Getting Here

If you are traveling to the San Juan Islands from outside the Seattle area, you’ll want to fly into the SeaTac (SEA) or Everett (PAE) airports. Paine Field in Everett is a smaller airport that allows you to skip Seattle traffic but has a limited number of incoming flights.

Washington State Ferries

This is the most affordable way to travel to the islands. Ferries to the San Juan Islands depart from Anacortes, which is about a 2 hour drive north of SeaTac airport. When you fly into the Seattle area, you can rent a car (from either airport) or take a shuttle north to Anacortes (from SeaTac airport only). When you are driving a car onto the ferry, you should arrive at least 45-60 minutes early in order to be fully checked in 30 minutes prior to sailing. If you miss the 30 minute cutoff, you will lose your reservation and be grouped in with the standby cars (aka you may wait for hours to get on/off island). Shuttle options include the Bellair Airporter Shuttle and the Island Airporter.

If you rent a car, you can drive onto the ferry or park at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal and walk on. If you plan on driving your car onto the ferry, reservations are HIGHLY recommended! You will need to make reservations for both your arrival and departure trips.

Ferry reservations are released on the WSF website in three different waves: 30% when the schedule first opens, 30% two months prior to the departure date, and 30% two days prior to the departure date. The remaining 10% are saved for cars that haven’t made reservations but these go quickly and it’s best not to depend on them.

There is no charge when booking a ferry reservation but you will be charged a “no show” fee of $19 if you book a reservation and then don’t use it. You can cancel your reservation up until 5pm the day before your travel date without being charged the no show fee. More information on ferry schedules, reservations, and the cost of ferry tickets can be found here.

Land or Sea Planes

There are several regional airlines that fly from the Seattle area to the San Juan Islands. This is the fastest option for travel to the islands and the views are breathtaking! If you fly into SeaTac airport, you will be shuttled to Boeing Field for a land plane flight or Lake Union/Washington for a sea plane flight. Check out Kenmore Air, Friday Harbor Seaplanes, San Juan Airlines (the only option from Paine Field airport in Everett), Point to Point Air, or Westwind Aviation to book your flights.

On-Island Transportation

If you fly to the islands or choose to park your car at the Anacortes Ferry Terminal, there are several ways to get around the island. Check out the links below for more information (NOTE: there is NOT Uber or Lyft on the island, so you will have to use one of the alternative services instead.):

Lodging

Here are some options of places to stay nearby. We HIGHLY recommended booking as early as possible - the island will be very busy in June and accomodations can book up months in advance.

The first two options (Earthbox and Tucker House Inn) have room blocks for our wedding, the instructions for booking each are in the description.

Things To Do

Seattle
For a true Meg and Katie experience, you would probably hit a brewery or two after walking around a park or going on a hike with Archie. A few of our favorite Seattle breweries are Fremont Brewing, Stoup, and Bale Breaker. We love walks around Green Lake and through the Arboretum. If you’re looking for more classic Seattle experiences, Pike Place Market and the Space Needle are must sees. Grab some oysters and champagne at Taylor Shellfish after exploring the Chihuly Glass Museum and walking around the Seattle Center. Some great hikes in the area are Twin Falls (3 miles), Rattlesnake Ledge (4 miles), and Snow Lake (7 miles).

San Juan Island
The San Juan Islands are choc full of nature-y activities. Whale watching is a must, and kayaking, boating, and hiking are all very popular on the islands. Friday Harbor is a picturesque small harbor town with dozens of shops and restaurants. Some of our favorites are Friday Harbor House Restaurant (if you're feeling fancy, and a great brunch), Duck Soup Inn for dinner, Downriggers for a good view and big deck, Madrona Bar and Grill (a good spot near Roche Harbor to see that part of the island), and of course San Juan Island Brewery for the best craft beer on the islands.

For activities, we would highly recommend checking out Lime Kiln State Park and Deadman's Bay for an approachable and stunning nature park with some of the best views of the islands and a lovely lighthouse. Hiking trails from 0.5-5ish miles. Rent a boat or kayak from Crystal Seas Kayak Rentals or Friday Harbor Boat Rental. If you don't have a car and just want to explore the town, there are lots of cute artisan shops right along the water.

About Us

Like all of the most storied and epic romances of the 21st century, we met on a dating app. After the initial small talk messages about Seattle weather, mutual friends from Northwestern, and the 2018 Winter Olympics (we really bonded over the excitement of the US curling team), Katie made the bold move to ask Meg out on a date. And Meg asked for a raincheck. Despite Katie’s fear that she was being ghosted, Meg was actually on a ski vacation in Utah with her family. As soon as Meg was back in Seattle, we met for a beer at Outlander Brewing. Our second date, a concert and drinks, happened just a few days later and lasted for 12 hours, as we just never ran out of things to talk about. Over 3 years later, we still haven’t run out of things to talk about.

In October of 2020, after a whirlwind of a year that included 8 months of quarantine, buying a house, and bringing home our puppy Archie, we took a trip to Leavenworth, WA for a cabin weekend away in the mountains. In an impressive feat of secrecy and collusion with Archie, Katie had snuck a ring and a bottle of champagne in her suitcase. Katie proposed to Meg before a homemade dinner with candles, champagne, and a very confused puppy looking on. Not to be outdone, Meg was also ready with a ring, and proposed to Katie at sunset on the dock of the lake just a few days later. The Double Proposal was complete!

Wedding Party

Meet the people we can't imagine our wedding without!

Meg

Katie Delaney

Best Maid

Meg’s older sister. Katie dubbed herself Meg’s “Best Maid” after a late-night pact they made in 1997. They aren’t twins, but have fooled a few people over the years into thinking they were.

At the wedding, most likely to... whisper an inside joke to Meg and make her uncontrollably giggle at the most inopportune time.

Jack Delaney

Best Man

Meg’s younger brother. Jack and Meg have moved beyond their childhood status of frenemies, but still lovingly refer to one another as “Buttface” and “Stupid Idiot”.

At the wedding, most likely to... quietly disappear for a bit, making everyone wonder “Wait, where did Jack just go?”

Sandra Bamford

Bridesmaid

Meg’s friend from childhood. Meg actually has no recollection of meeting Sandra for the first time in Kindergarten; it’s as if she’s always been there.

At the wedding, most likely to... have an out-of-body experience if the band plays a Lizzo song.

Leah Ellert

Bridesmaid

Meg’s friend from childhood. In first grade, Leah and Meg had matching outfits for each day of the week. Leah cemented her place in the Delaney family after infamously answering their home phone pretending to be the “The Butler”.

At the wedding, most likely to... embezzle glasses of champagne by pretending to get an extra “for the bride”, and then blame it on her “drunk alter ego”.

Brianna Culp

Bridesmaid

Meg’s friend from childhood. Brianna burst into Meg’s life in middle school, and has been chatting up the Delaney family ever since.

At the wedding, most likely to... live up to her Ranger Rooney nickname by coming to the rescue with tissues, band-aids, Advil, or a full first aid kit should the need arise.

Ellen McGrath

Bridesmaid

Meg’s friend and roommate from college. Ellen is probably the person to have made Meg cry with laughter the most amount of times.

At the wedding, most likely to... bribe the band to switch Katie and Meg’s first dance song to “Bridge of Khazad Dum” from LOTR, but then go to the bathroom at the wrong time and miss the whole thing.

Lauren Miceli

Bridesmaid

Meg’s friend from college. They became friends after discovering their shared love of sarcasm and wine. Trusted source of restaurant reviews and recipe recommendations.

At the wedding, most likely to... be the one who makes sure the entire wedding party is at the right place at the right time, but gives up after Jack keeps disappearing.

Katie

Abigail George

Maid of Honor

Katie’s sister and only other person who knows that Katie once had a collection of over 10 unicorn stuffed animals.

At the wedding, most likely to... make everyone do the '20 steps of tasting wine' to each wedding wine.

Sophia Falmagne

Matron of Honor

Katie’s oldest friend- they met in the one-year-old room, and then went to college together (go ‘cats) and still text about why they decided to leave Orange County.

At the wedding, most likely to... try to Irish exit unsuccessfully, and be forced to stay up late.

Marija Nadjsombati

Bridesmaid

Katie’s friend from high school, AP study buddy, gossip friend and who convinced Katie to move to Seattle.

At the wedding, most likely to... have a mini existential crisis about how we’re all getting so old.

Anna Lovelace

Bridesmaid

Katie’s friend from high school who definitely has racked up the most minutes of phone calls and facebook messages in Katie’s life.

At the wedding, most likely to... have long conversations with various parties about the meaning of life, the patriarchy, and the gender spectrum.

Kerry Driscoll

Bridesmaid

Katie’s friend and two-year college roommate - also recently moved to Seattle!

At the wedding, most likely to... remember extremely specific events of the weekend so we can reminisce in five years.

Sasa Schwartz

Bridesmaid

Katie’s friend from college; they were in the same sorority and on the same frisbee team but only overlapped in each for a single year (but it was enough!).

At the wedding, most likely to... spend most of the night talking to people she’s never met and leave with 5 new phone numbers.
